This blog is in honor of my mother.
She taught me to see and to love color. Thanks, Mom!
A patterned stone in violet with a brilliant gold center, surrounded by cinnabar. The outer rim has a pattern of pale peach-tinted scallops against a background of blue, beige, orange, and gold. Kinda weird.
Abstract design in mixed media---pale yellow, rose, and violet---a circlet of embassed carved ceramic surrounding a "leather image" with a central "shield" with triangles embedded in it. See if you can see patterns of palm trees and pyramids.

ABSTRACT DIGITAL ARTWORK. A golden seal ring in antique gold with embellishments in bronze and a central rose in brilliant fire-red metal. It's contained in a box with a matching pattern and folded edges; the background is black. The background is saddle brown, the color of leather.
ABSTRACT DIGITAL ARTWORK. A simple, two-dimensional mandala drawn on a flat background: dark blue against sky-blue and paler shades. From the center of the little central sun flows a brilliant golden light. One of my own favorites.
ABSTRACT DIGITAL ARTWORK. An image assembled from tessellated digital tiles, intended to create a far eastern feel. The colors are vermilion, gold and black; the vermilion emits a neon glow that you can almost hear buzzing. It's intense. This fiery glow and the basic structure of the image made me think of the hexagram Li (number 30) from the I Ching .
ABSTRACT DIGITAL ARTWORK. A beautiful blue box in cobalt blue crystal covered with silver lace; the central element is a silver mirror. A beautiful jewel of a jewel box, like something Marie Antoinette might have used to store her ropes of diamonds
DIGITAL ARTWORK. I did this image as a tribute to The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, one of my favorite novels. This is the first variation; I'll do the others later. Anyway: flower petals with a hard, glossy appearance, like the rim of one of those ash-trays that used to be standard household equipment, except not, because when you look down you see a gemlike neon flower encircled by neon green---"a neon buzz." Pink and green: colors I associate with those times. Run-down cafes, luxury, hands groping under the table, science fiction stories in lurid green covers...There's something tawdry, yet glorious, like neon light reflected in a window wet with rain. Or you could just see it as a strange and menacing flower.
I love that book. It's stayed with me, even more than some of her other things.
