This episode featured Ramsay's mother, Joan Collins, and a turkey being treated for bumblefoot. It's the cooking show that reminds you of all the things that go into the preparation of food. There was a lot of discussion about Ramsay's campaign to get women back into the kitchen which: whatever. There's something so transparent about the whole PR machine at work for this particular television personality that it's actually sort of enthralling.
My notes are a stream-of-consciousness recap that I typed while I was watching the show, and they betray a softer soft spot for the thatch-haired termagant than I care to own up to in my cooler moments. No one who knows me and my particular approach to education would understand why I find Ramsay so appealing; in every respect he is the opposite of me. Maybe I just like seeing someone who yells as loudly as I would like to and who is too arrogant to care what anyone really thinks about him personally. I am always worrying about offending people or irritating them.
Anyway, it's both a chronicle of how Nick and I spend the evenings when I have to work and an account of my mild crush on the whole Ramsay persona, including kids, turkeys, mum, and missus. Not to mention a poignant reminder of the greatest Bloom County cartoon EVAH.
(Nick feels the same as I do though he won't admit it....)
