Welcome to the homepage for The Flatland Almanack!
On this page (and in the archives) you will find my online journal (on days when I have anything to say) and---more important---a daily log of my updates to the content of all the related blogs listed below. In other words, the homepage or "home blog" is a meta-blog for various weblogs on various topics. I know it's unconventional, but it just seems more organized to me this way.
The categories shown on the sidebar on the right are the archives for the "home blog" where you'll find material posted here (with links to my other blogs).
The Flatland Almanack blog is where I post notices of UPDATES to my other related weblogs. These updates can be found here:

THE MAIN CONTENT OF THIS BLOG IS IN THE FLATLAND CHRONICLES, my journal and main blog. JUMP TO THE FLATLAND CHRONICLES NOW.
MY OTHER FLATLAND ALMANACK WEBLOGS (dealing with specific topics) are as follows:
[1] Anglo-Saxon Attitudes: An Anglophile's File. A yank's eye view of British culture. I love the English. I am still trying to understand them. It's one of my life's many labors of love.
[2] Floridiana Gloriana: Florida photography. Celebrating the glorious hidden Florida beyond the attractions, parking lots, and strip malls. There's more of it than you can possibly imagine.
[3] Just Eat the Damn Peach. Some diversions that have helped me through the bad and scary times. I haven't accumulated much material yet, but am working on it.
[4] Love in the Time of the Internets. My advice is as good as most people's. At least it's backed up by the experience of making every possible mistake I had the chance to make. I remarried very happily at 43---to a man I met on the internet----so don't let anyone tell you it can't be done. If it's too much expense of spirit, Shakespeare and I will try to sort it all out.
[5] The Disquieting Damozel. The anxiety blog, for mustering my thoughts about the forces and events that have yanked the ground right out from under me. You know: death, grief, panic, disability, illness, and other stresses of adult life in the 21st Century. We're not in Wonderland anymore, Alice.
[6] The Flatland Almanack Blog Art Blog. A gallery of bits of original artwork/clipart--like the example in the left hand corner---that you can use in your blog. In other words, blog badges and baubles It's amateur artwork, yes, but I do it for fun so it's free. [If you're interested at all, please see the note in the sidebar regarding images that are not yet included in the gallery]. PS. But if you want to use images from my other blogs, please write for permission! I haven't decided to let all of it go yet...
[7] The Heretic's Handbook. A liberal God-botherer vs. the Church of Christ without Christ. Progressive Christianity with an emphasis on Knowing and understanding Jesus the Man.
[8] Versus/Reversus. My thoughts, when I have any, on politics, the media, my issues with politics and the media. I'm a Democrat and the tone is liberal/progressive, though I'm moving toward the center all the time. I used to be angrier; now I'm as fed up as the rest of America with the squabbling, even by the squabblers I sort of love. My family? All Republicans, even the eight year old. And they're all good people. Particularly after reading some of the screechier material I moved over here when I left my old blog, I have resolved to stop screeching and start looking for that middle ground.
NAVIGATION. I've tried to make it as easy as possible for a visitor to find material at this site.
This blog is the main portal to my other blogs. These blogs are linked in the list above AND on the left sidebar. Below that you will see a list of the contents of each of these blogs. By clicking on any of these clinks, you can instantly see a list of postings.
