My last piece for my Rome series...
Ciaran Hinds as Julius Caesar was superb in the show, so much so that I was hoping perhaps he wouldn't be assassinated. Yeah. He will be sorely missed from the cast, unless....unless we get appearances (not too heavy-handed naturally) of Caesar's ghost to Brutus and Cassius... Juding by Brutus's shaking hands and shattered morale, that's perhaps on the cards.
I was impressed that they didn't have him say his immortal dying words, because he didn't need to. Ciaran Hinds managed to get "Et tu, Brute?" across with just his face. He's that good an actor.
You just naturally think of red and gold when you think of Julius Caesar.
For your edification, some notes on Julius Caesar:
- A 12-part biography at www.livius.org.
- Another historical note on Julius Caesar.
- The Wikipedia note on Julius Caesar.
- The Wikipedia note on the Rome character.
These are not real items?!? I love not only you Rome desgns but our dead-on commentary as well. Wonderful art - thanks.
