This is artwork from my brokedown Seventies palace, starting with the pure, intense, innocent blue with the sea-green neon-level splotches and the pseudo-eastern look and feel of the central lamp. Tie-dye and lava lamps: there was more to the Seventies than that. From where we're standing now it looks naive and self-involved, but there was an excitement to it, as if we really were on the verge of some sort of mystery. It wasn't really the dawning of the Age of Aquarius and nobody's expectations really came to pass. Nevertheless, we're all a little freer because of it.
