Inscrutable

Confetti Buttons
Pretty much what it says: pewter "buttons" with brass rims decorated with blue, pale green, and vermilion "confetti." The background is black spotted with green. Definitely a retro look, like something you might unearth from your late great aunt's junk jewelry drawer or sewing basket. The rather somber background undercuts any hint of frivolity (and the dark pewter color of the "buttons" do their part as well. They have the enigmatic look of objects whose function is known but no longer relevant and which cry out to be repurposed. It seems somehow wrong to throw them away.

Pompeii
An experiment with a glass mosaic effect. I think it works! A tile decorated with circles. Each circle is filled with flowers surrounding a circle of green and white leaves. . Colors are rose, violet, green, yellow, blue grey, and old rose. It really does have an antique appearance.

The Sign of the Green Man
A ring of painted leaves against a yellow sunburst surround a mandala in red and green, potent pagan colors. "Ask the Green Man where he comes from." You won't get any answer. This is a humble propitiation. I hope he'll give us one more chance, but I am not sanguine.

Book of Changes: Hexagram 7 (Warriors, An Army) (2 Versions)
Silver and black, with spear points and jagged edges and military formations. Or you could just see it, as I do, as a pretty arrangement of silver, pewter, and black in a metallic silver frame.
Or you can go with a less conventional version: a heavy silver "chain" on a black background---off center to express the destabilizing effect of such a force---and bounded by stripes in black, mother of pearl, silver, and taupe.

A Map to the Garden (Antique Embroidery, in honor of my Grandmother, Mary).
ABSTRACT DIGITAL ARTWORK. Digital tile with a brocaded pattern in antique colors of old gold, grass green, crimson and blue in metallic threads. Pretty unusual (for me). I wanted something that would evoke the feel of my South Carolina milltown a long time ago, before even I was born. The tones are earthier and more autumnal than I usually prefer and the design more elaborate.
